CHS EARNS BLUE RIBBON SCHOOL DISTINCTION
The United States Department of Education has awarded the distinction of "Blue Ribbon School 2006" to the OWC Collegiate High School. Florida Department of Education Commissioner John Winn nominated thirteen schools in Florida for the prestigious honor. CHS is one of only two high schools in Florida to meet the stringent requirements for Blue Ribbon School designation for 2006. While the designitation of honor is for the 2006 school year, the application process required evidence of academic excellence and curriculum rigor for five years previous. This distinction is to be shared by all parents, students, staff and alumni of the Collegiate High School.
Many events celebrating our Blue Ribbon honor will be on-going during the school year beginning with an ice cream treat for all students from the Blue Bell Ice Cream Company on October 12 at 2:00 PM and a school wide assembly and recognition program with DOE K-12 Chanceller Cheri Yecke on November 20. Mrs. Cotton, Ms. Riddell, and Mrs. Cook will be traveling to Washington D.C. to recieve the award and a Blue Ribbon flag from the U.S. Department of Education.
Congratulations students, staff, parents, and alumni! You are the best!
